Outpost is very good, but like the full version it is not suitable for novices, including many not-self-explanatory menus and preferences (though great for power users).

Zonealarm performs well, but is just friggin' huge. Way too much memory usage and interface clutter for typical transparent firewall use.

Comodo is my personal favorite. Small, just what one needs, nothing one doesn't, shuts up when it should, only bothers you when it must. I used Outpost for years, but tired of the power user tweaking and now just want a transparent utility. Comodo is it.

Thanks for the quick answer.
The Kerio free one is now from Sunbelt I think.

I might wait for the Comodo one.

ZoneAlarm is. Comodo will be as of v3 (you can find betas on the web). Sygate probably isn't, and Outpost's free version likely isn't, since it's old.

Kerio isn't yet, either, but I might take them off the list, since I can't actually find a free version on their website anymore.

Astaro Security Gateway is a full featured security suite. It's free for personal use (require a dedicated PC). You can find it at http://www.astaro.com.
