Zonealarm performs well, but is just friggin' huge. Way too much memory usage and interface clutter for typical transparent firewall use. Comodo is my personal favorite. Small, just what one needs, nothing one doesn't, shuts up when it should, only bothers you when it must. I used Outpost for years, but tired of the power user tweaking and now just want a transparent utility. Comodo is it. Comodo will be as of v3 (you can find betas on the web). Sygate probably isn't, and Outpost's free version likely isn't, since it's old.
