Obama takes Iowa caucus

Looks like Obama won in Iowa, edging out Clinton. Thank the stars: if the presidential election came down to Hillary v. (insert Republican here), I might just have to vote third party. And let’s face it: that’s throwing my vote away.

The first-term senator from Illinois promised “a nation less divided and more united” and told those at a victory rally they could some day “look back and say this is the moment where it all began.”

Obama, 46, is bidding to become the first black president. He garnered about 38 percent of the vote, comfortably ahead of former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former first lady.

He’s such a feel-good guy, you almost forget that he’s going to get eaten alive by the deadly-efficient marketing minds on the Right. You just wait: we’ll see more “Wolves” ads and push-polling before the year is over.

I hope he’ll keep the momentum going into New Hampshire. His relative inexperience aside, Obama is the only candidate with any sort of chance that I actually like (Kucinich is my favorite, so naturally he has no chance).
