VLC Media Player 0.8.6

VLC Media Player

Very likely the last incremental release before the all-important v0.9.0, the VideoLan project has released v0.8.6 of its cross-platform media player, VLC. This is one of those products that highlights what’s good about the open-source world: a really high-quality, useful piece of software that’s available for a buttload of platforms. I personally think VLC is leagues ahead of MPlayer, even though the latter seems to get all the multimedia attention.
