The “Going to the Chicago Humanities Festival for the weekend” edition

Friday Random Ten

  1. Comity • Untitled 87 [As Everything is a Tragedy]
  2. Zao • Endure
  3. Arcturus • Raudt Og Svart
  4. Explosions in the Sky • Glittering Blackness
  5. Splender • Wallflower
  6. Agalloch • Haunting Birds
  7. A Hawk and a Hacksaw • Laughter in the Dark
  8. The Dillinger Escape Plan • Come to Daddy
  9. Jason Falkner • Great Big Yes
  10. A Northern Chorus • Costa del Sol

I’ll get by with a little help from my friends:

  • The Sam and Beckyboo Show (I tend to like Vanessa Carlton, but there’s something about her voice that reminds me of Truman Capote: it’s weird to hear Truman Capote cover Mick Jagger)
  • The Smedley Log (I’ve seen Coldplay live, and they played “Politik,” which was one of the highlights of the night)
  • Faux Real, Tho (Nick Cave is a favorite of the FRTers)
  • Rusty’s Kingdom (Morningrise: the best album I haven’t listened to in more than a year)
  • Apartment 2024 (when I see “down by the river,” the only thing that comes to mind is Chris Farley, but that’s to be expected)
  • SwedeHeart Stories (it’s not easy being green….)
