Friday Random Ten LXXXVIII

The “4th Anniversary tomorrow” edition

Friday Random Ten

Today sees me driving to WIU to see Allison; tomorrow we come back here and drive to Chicago for dinner and a showing of Wicked; Sunday sees us driving back to WIU to see a showing of Rent (performance, not cinema); Monday sees me driving back here.

  1. Blindside • Painting
  2. Buried Inside • Time As Resistance
  3. Mojave 3 • Writing to St. Peter
  4. Æsma Dæva • Communion
  5. My Dying Bride • The Scarlet Garden
  6. Shearwater • The Kind
  7. Sufjan Stevens • Presidents and Magistrates
  8. Dillinger Escape Plan • Baby’s First Coffin
  9. King Crimson • The Great Deceiver
  10. Sigur Rós • Myrkur

Around the world:

  • Faux Real, Tho (I sense a preponderance of Nick Cave and Jens Lekman)
  • Rusty (I’m listening to Camel right now)
  • The Sam and Beckyboo Show (There was a point, namely back before Napster and I could only hear it when the video was on MTV, when “We Didn’t Start the Fire” was the ne plus ultra of songs to me)
  • The Smedley Log (What ever happened to the Wallflowers, anyway? Is it better to have fallen out of cultural relevance, or to be a musical icon doing underwear commercials?)
