OpenOffice.org

OpenOffice.org, the free multiplatform office suite, has released version 2.0.4. Check out the release notes for a full changelog, but in brief, the major changes are “Enhanced PDF management, Direct export to LaTex, New functionality in Calc and Impress, [and] Mac OS X (X11) now uses system fonts.” There are also a bunch of locale changes.

Get it now.

  1. The Mac OS X version have used system fonts for quite some time… But where is the Mac OS X aqua (native) version that we where promissed?

    Still very much an alpha. Aqua’s a difficult thing to port to, I guess. According to the FAQ, there won’t even be a public alpha for another few months.

    Or you could get NeoOffice 2.0b3 here.

    On that note: what’s particularly galling is that the work done on NeoOffice can’t be merged with the mainline project because the former is GPL and the latter LGPL. What a goddamn waste.
