I can say I would have never discovered the song myself if it hadn't been for the <em>Garden State</em> soundtrack. Though I do have several friends who are huge fans of The Postal Service, the electronic sound of the original version of this song pretty much just turns me off. At the same time, while I like the stripped down version from Iron & Wine just fine, I wouldn't say it's on my list of favorites. It's a nice song, with good lyrics, but that's about it. “isn’t it funny how no one cared about ‘Such Great Heights’ until Iron & Wine covered it?”

Interesting observation. I can say I would have never discovered the song myself if it hadn’t been for the Garden State soundtrack. No Doubt is a group that maybe would have stayed good if maybe noone ever noticed how "hot" Gwen is.. But then maybe they would have never gotten noticed at all or gone the way of Romeo Void (cursed by Debora Iyall's infernal lack-of-hot). Sigh. There is little doubt, though, that <i>Rock Steady</i>, and its sudden infatuation with the ghetto fabulous, was pabulum at best and offal at worst. Don't even get me started on Gwen's solo career.
