Ben at The Modest Construct [sic] also thinks the jury is back on this one: “Conservatives like to paint Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is a despicable monster for the crime of being both an unapologetic socialist and unabashedly critical of the United States. I think that there is noting inherently wrong with either of those things (to wit: socialism to some measure is a positive, as is some measure of criticism), but boy, he’s really an idiot this time.”
How the hell did that happen?
UPDATE: Also a Boston Globe blog picked it up (I’m ‘those on the left’).
Congratulations on the plugs.
A rather nice pat on the back, eh?
Dude… I’m really proud of you, even though you weren’t actually trying to publicize your blog.
That’s big stuff. Someone apparently thinks you’re a player on the left-wing blogosphere.
Good publicity for your website, too, on the Boston Globe end.
Sorry if I’m making more out of it than I should, but I really think it’s worthy of some inflated self-esteem.
The likely scenario is that Weiss searched Technorati for “Hugo Chavez” when the news about his speech broke, and checked the resulting blogs.
Now, goodness knows I don’t have a crowd of commenters, and I certainly don’t post very much political stuff, but I’m going to assume that my entry was quote-worthy enough to catch his eye. How Hughes at the BG figured I was “on the left” is another question entirely.
