Going along with what One Man said, a similiar thing happened with Dave Matthews Band. They had begun work on the album which would eventually become Everyday (read: quite a weak album), and along the road somewhere, they ended up recording a whole album’s worth of songs with a different producer. These songs, which were eventually named the LilyWhite sessions, if my memory serves me right, far outshined anything on Everday, which ended up being the album that was released. However, this album never did make it’s way to print (again, if my meoery serves my right). Just restates the fact that executives are not the best judges of quality, especially considering their undeniable bias towards that which could make profit.

Oh, and thanks for the link; I grabbed all the songs. Will listen to them soon.
