My package from Amazon.com arrived today. I was surprised; at a distance, I thought it must be something else. I certainly didn’t order enough to merit a box this big.

The box is over a foot long, almost ten inches wide, and 8.5 inches high.

Amazon uses air-filled plastic sacs instead of packing peanuts. Apparently, my order merited quite a bit of protection. Except on the bottom.

Once the packing material and pamphlets are out, my order consists of…. two CDs.

Yes, two CDs, seen here in comparison to box length and height.

My cat likes the box just fine.
I’ve ordered CDs from Amazon before, and they’ve always come in small packages. I hope this is just an isolated incident of small box shortage or shipping gaffe and not indicative of a new, pharmeceutical-like packing policy.
